Charged descriptions of what the world is going through information wise are mushrooming. Grouching with such labels as “information explosion “ , “information overload “ , “information revolution “ , and “information flood “ will not help tackle the situation. it will only give an impression that this is an infliction humanity has to go through. Wasn’t that what Humanity has been aspiring to. Wasn’t the pursuit of knowledge the most noble aim for centuries. How could things change that much, and how could we call something to which we all planned and worked for an “unexpected revolution”. The appropriate description of what has happened would be to call it “information bounty”. The Reason behind the negative dealing with the situation is a result of change resistance; Humans tend to keep things as they are, and as they have been. For centuries we had to exert a lot of effort to attain knowledge, and Information bounty is a fundamental change, confiscating the pleasure of working really hard to gain information and process it to our advantage, and thus triggers humans defensive walls against what seems the end of history. Broadening the prism with which we look at “information bounty” can remedy the fears. If information is really proliferating -and it is, enormously indeed- that does not necessarily mean we will know everything, and most importantly does not mean that we will lose the pleasure of pursuing knowledge. Many more challenges responsibilities, and dilemmas are bound to emerge. Information bounty will simply provide us with more and more information, and thus with more and more pleasure to ponder, evaluate, innovate, and originate. There is a lot to do, and information technology has made the radical change. I.T is only a route, and possibly a stride, but is definitely not the destination. The new aim of Humanity should be the pursuit of “information bliss” with Unfettered Access to knowledge , Libraries without walls , and of course without paper , a virtual world of enlightenment , an intellectual utopia making the internet the eighth continent which will brings the truth in focus. Knowledge has always been cherished, and the first command to Muslims was to read. With knowledge we are closer to Allah because we imitate – not emulate- one of his characteristics; and that is knowledge. And for those who miss the pleasure of hard work , there is a multitude of emerging issues and problems to deal with such as intellectual property , the never-ending dilemma of censorship , hactivism , cyberterrorism , to mention a few. Therefore, we need not worry, knowledge never ends, and is here to stay and grow. It was the false alarm of our deeply-rooted habits that prevents us from welcoming change. Knowledge is power, Recorded Knowledge is a double power, and implemented knowledge is a super power! Let’s stop these negative labels of mushrooming, and let’s welcome and let’s work for the mushrooming of information and knowledge in the “information Bliss”.
